Our laboratory is the southernmost facility of the university of Tokyo,
and has long history nearly 120 years in Amami Oshima. We have made great
achevements in filariasis eradication from this island and also prevention
of Habu bites. Currently, we are maintaining the colonies of New World
monkeys, and aiming to overcome infectious diseases including endemic diseases
in the tropical and subtropical regions through infection experiments using
primates. We are conducting research in collaboration with various institutions
in Japan and overseas.
