　Amami Oshima island is located approximately 300km from south of Cape Sata of Kagoshima Pref. The area of the island is 712.35 km² and the population is about 60,000. There are virgin forests and moutains which are expanded around the highest Mt. Yuwan (694m), and we can overlook the Oshima Strait where the Rias coast has developed in southen edge of island. Under a subtropical oceanic climate, it has a different ecosystem from the mainland and is a treasure trove of endemic and rare species. Our facility fronts on the Oshima Strait and is located in Setouchi Town, which is the second most populous town on Amami-Oshima island.

　The available transportation to Amami Oshima is by airplane. As of May 2020, Amami Airport has direct flights from five major cities: Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Kagoshima, and Okinawa. In addition, the distance from Amami Airport to our facility is about 76 km. From the airport to our facility, please take a local bus (shima bus: +81-99-752-0509) or by a rental car.
