In the "post-genome project era," genetically modified animals play a key role in basic biological investigations and act as models of human disease. Our laboratory studies mechanisms underlying the mammalian reproductive system such as gametogenesis, fertilization, implantation, and placentation by using conventional gene manipulation technique as well as CRISPR/Cas9 based genome editing. Combination of GWAS with data obtained from gene-manipulated animals will pave the way to understand and control human fertility problems.
