Subject: Understanding and Targeting Cancer Microenvironment
Abstract:
Inflammation has been considered as an important hallmark of a variety of cancer.
In the cancer tissue, except for neoplastic cells, there are different kinds of stromal cells, such as fibroblasts, endothelial cells as well as hematopoietic pro-inflammatory cells. They produce pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines and extracellular matrix and directly or indirectly influence the death or survival of cancer cells during cancer development and cancer therapy. Our group is focusing on the multi-disciplinary interaction between cancer cells and/or their pro-inflammatory neighbor cells. In the current report, I will present some of our recent studies about the accumulation, function and therapeutic modulation of novel subtypes of cancer-associated myeloid cells as well as fibroblasts.
