Eosinophil depletion suppresses radiation-induced small intestinal fibrosis

千葉大学大学院医学研究院粘膜免疫学/東京大学医科学研究所国際粘膜ワクチン開発研究センター自然免疫制御分野・植松智教授の研究グループは、これまで治療法のなかった腹部放射線治療後の重篤な合併症である腸線維症において、好酸球が重要な役割を果たすことを発見し、発症のメカニズムを解明しました。好酸球除去抗体の投与が、放射線照射後の線維化を著しく抑制したことから、新規治療法の開発につながることが考えられます。
この成果を報告した論文は、2018年2月21日(米国東部時間)発行の米国学術誌Science Translational Medicineオンライン版にて発表されます。なお、本研究は、AMED免疫アレルギー疾患等実用化研究事業(免疫アレルギー疾患実用化研究分野)における研究開発課題「腸管免疫統合的制御による炎症性腸疾患新規予防・治療戦略研究開発(研究開発代表者:清野宏)」の一環として行われました。
