Changes in Alternative Splicing during TGF-b-induced Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition

Kana Horiguchi (D4)
Dep. of Molecular Pathology
Graduate School of Medicine
Specialized Field: Molecular Pathology

Kana Horiguchi is a Ph.D. student of the Department of Molecular Pathology, Graduate School of Medicine at University of Tokyo. Since she entered the graduate school in 2006, she continues to work on a trans-differentiation process of cells, called Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT). She focuses on EMT induced by TGF-b which is implicated in invasive cancer phenotypes associated with metastatic disease. Her current study reveals a unique signaling pathway to induce EMT by alternative splicing of FGF receptors by TGF-b.
Catch-Phrase: Search for common ground between generation and cancer
