Role of HDAC6 in skeletal muscle atrophy

Francesca Ratti
(PhD student)
ENS de Lyon
Specialized Field:
Neuromuscular differentiation

Francesca Ratti is a 2nd year PhD student and she is working on skeletal muscle atrophy. Her project has as its main objective to investigate the role of the hystone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) in atrophy. After her Master 2 thesis on cancerology at Università degli Studi in Milan (Italy), she spent 3 years working as a visiting scientist in the US at the Wistar Institute in Philly and then at University of Miami, where she studied the role of Notch in tumorigenesis. Now she is interested in dissecting the molecular mechanisms of skeletal muscle atrophy, in order to indetify valuable targets for therapeutic treatments.
Catch-Phrase:
Identification of the main molecular mechanisms occuring during skeletal muscle atrophy
