Visit of the delegation of United Arab Emirates (UAE)
headed by Minister of State for Happiness and Well-being

@On December 21, 2017, 6 members of the UAE's government headed by HE Ohood Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Well-being, and Director General of the UAE Prime Minister's Office visited the Institute of Medical Science, the University of Tokyo (IMSUT).

The purpose of the visit is to visit Prof. Hiroshi Kiyono, head of the Division of Mucosal Immunology and International Research and Director of the Development Center for Mucosal Vaccine. Also visited were Project Prof. Satoshi Uematsu of the same center and Prof. Seiya Imoto, Director of the Health Intelligence Center. The UAE delegation wanted to learn about research into intestinal flora and immunization, preventing lifestyle diseases, and the connection between wellbeing, happiness and intestinal flora. The professors explained about the actual situation and progress in research on the effect of intestinal flora on the brain by selecting food to make people happy. The members of the delgation were interested in the presentation.
It is hoped that the research of IMSUT will contribute to the develpement of medical research in the UAE.
