The Director and 4 researchers of Lithuania's National Cancer Institute (NCI) visited IMSUT



With a population of about 3 million, the Republic of Lithuania is the southernmost of three countries in the Baltic region.Its capital is Vilinius.
Dr. Kenzaburo Tani, project professor of IMSUT, visited Lithuania in 2016 and gave a symposium talk there.

On October 13, 2017, five visitors including the director and responsible persons of their National Cancer Institute, professors of Vilinius University and Minister Plenipotentiary of the Lithuanian Embassy came to IMSUT. Welcoming the Lithuanian delegation on behalf of IMSUT were six high-level academic and administrative leaders: Prof. Murakami (Dean), and three Vice-Deans (Profs. Mutsuhiro Takekawa, Yasushi Kawaguchi and Hirotoshi Tanaka), Prof. Keiya Ozawa (IMSUT Hospital Director) and Ms. Kiyomi Ueda (General Manager).Prof. Murakami introduced the activities of IMSUT and Hospital Director Prof. Keiya Ozawa explained about IMSUT Hospital.
After the welcome talk, there was a workshop organized by Prof. Tani. Profs. Arinobu Tojo, Yoichi Furukawa, Makoto Nakanishi, and Tani of IMSUT and Prof. Koichi Matsuda of the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences as well as the visitors from NCI gave presentaions on cancer research.
Then the delegation visited BioBank Japan, Cell Processing Devices, the Human Genome Center and IMSUT Hospital respectively introduced by Profs. Matsuda, Tani, Imoto and Dr. Imai. about the most advanced research activities.
It is hoped that the visit develops into research exchange and collaboration between NCI and IMSUT.
