On May 8th and 9th, 2018, IMSUT welcomed 17 members of the Indonesian delegation. The object of their visit was to learn about the health care system and the operation of hospitals in Japan.

On the first day, they visited the Medical Science Museum and learned about IMSUT’s history and the exhibition materials in the museum from Professor Toshio Kitamura. Next, they received an introduction to oncolytic virus therapies for various malignant tumors from Associate Professor Yasushi Ino of the Division of Innovative Cancer Therapy/Department of Surgical Neuro-Oncology, IMSUT Hospital, and then they visited the IMSUT Cord blood facility and received an introduction to its purpose and operation from Associate Professor Tokiko Nagamura-Inoue of the Department of Cell Processing and Transfusion.

On the second day, they were welcomed and given an overview of the hospital by Professor Hiroshi Yotsuyanagi (Deputy Director of IMSUT Hospital), and discussed a wide range of topics, including hospital administration and medical policy in Japan with him. After lunch, they visited the P3 facility for influenza research in the Division of Virology and learned about its operation system from Associate Professor Masaki Imai and Assistant Professor Kiyoko Iwatsuki-Horimoto.

They showed great interest in the activities of IMSUT and actively asked questions about each facility they were introduced to. We hope this visit will encourage a further expansion of cooperative ties between IMSUT and the medical institutions in Indonesia.
