Soonchunhyang University Tenure-track Assistant Professor and Associate Professor Positions in Biomedical Science


Assistant Professor and Associate Professor tenure-track positionsin biomedical science at the Soonchunhyang Institute of Medio-bio Science (SIMS).

Soonchunhyang University (SCH University), established in 1978 as the first private medical school in Korea is a leading research and educational institution that also administers four medical centers. The Soonchunhyang Institute of Medio-bio Science (SIMS), located in Cheonan city, 80 km south of Seoul, is the institute for translational research recently established by the SCHU to strengthen its research competitiveness in the biomedical sciences.

SCHUniversity now invites applications from exceptional researchers for tenure-track positionsat theAssistant Professor and Associate Professor level within the SIMS. A total of ten (10) positions are available for faculty commencing in the spring of 2014.

Applications from outstanding candidates from all fields of the biomedical science will be considered,although those from researchers specializing in Metabolic Diseases, Stem Cell Research, Degenerative Diseases orRegenerative Medicine as well as those with experience in translational research and collaborative clinical research are particularly welcome.

The successful candidates will be expected to conduct independent research within the SIMS Graduate School which will be launched in mid-2014 and establish research collaborations with other leading international centers of research excellence.

A competitive salary (in the range of 70-90 millionKRW p.a. for Assistant Professor and 100-120 million KRW p.a. for Associate Professor) will be supplemented by a generous financial package including relocation, housing subsidy, health insurance and superannuation contributions. In addition each new faculty member will receive a start-up research grant of 100 million KRW and proactive support from SCHUniversity in attractive large-scale government grants. Candidates are not expected to possess Korean language skills.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their research at the SIMS-IMSUT-WIS symposium hosted by the SIMS in collaboration with the Institute of Medical Science, the University of Tokyo and the Weizmann Institute of Science held at the main campus of SCHUniversity in Asan from 18-19th November 2013.
