Metabolites are used to make DNA, RNA, proteins, energy, hormones, and other molecules that are essential for health and healthy aging. My lab is focused on identifying how metabolism is dysregulated during cancer, viral infections, and aging. Here, I will present two unpublished stories: the first uses scRNA-seq to identify metabolic pathways that are changed specifically in the early stages of adenovirus infection, and shows that nutrient sensing to mTORC1 is impaired; and the second creates a metabolic atlas of aging in mice that will provide an invaluable resource to positively impact longevity research.
