概  要:
Tuberculosis (TB), caused by the pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), is the world’s deadliest bacterial infectious disease. According to the Global Tuberculosis Report 2018 of the World Health Organization, about 10 million people around the world were infected with TB in 2017, leading to ~1.3 Million deaths. Although drug treatments of available, resistance to the front-line agents (isoniazid and rifampicin) is a serious problem and new therapies are urgently needed. DNA gyrase is a validated target for TB therapy, but resistance to the current gyrase-targeted antibiotics (fluoroquinolones) is a serious problem. In the seminar, Professor Kaixia Mi will talk about to identify novel gyrase-interacting proteins and to establish the nature and significance of these interactions using physiological, biochemical and biophysical approaches.
