2006年開催 学友会セミナー

開催日時: 平成18年6月7日(水) 16:00~17:30
開催場所: 新総合研究棟4F会議室
講 師: Motomu Shimaoka, M.D., Ph.D.
所 属: Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School & CBR Institute for Biomedical Research
演 題: Conformational Regulation of Integrins for Novel Therapeutics
概 要:

The integrin LFA-1 (Leukocyte-Function associated Antigen-1) is a cell adhesion molecule fundamental to several phases of the immune response: cell homing, adhesion, antigen presentation and co-stimulatory signaling. The capacity of LFA-1 to bind ICAM-1 is dynamically regulated by conformational changes of the ligand binding inserted (I) domain from the closed low-affinity to the open high-affinity form. Adhesive interactions of LFA-1 with ICAM-1 play pivotal pathogenic roles in inflammatory disorders. Dr. Shimaoka will talk about novel therapeutic approaches that selectively target the active conformation of LFA-1.
