演題: "Ion channels and demarcation membranes in the megakaryocyte, a model for studies of platelet signalling"
概要:

The megakaryocyte is responsible for generating blood platelets. In addition, this giant marrow cell is often used as a surrogate for studies of platelet function given the fact that it must manufacture most, if not all proteins of its anuclear product. In our single cell fluorescence imaging, RT-PCR and electrophysiological studies of megakaryocytes freshly isolated from rodent marrow, we have characterised multiple aspects of this unique cell type. This talk will review what we have learned about the ion channels, Ca2+ signals and the demarcation membrane system of the megakaryocyte. I will also discuss initial experiments which compare the properties of stem cell-derived megakaryocytes with those that grow in vivo.
