Human Genome Center

Director    IMOTO Seiya

Human Genome Center (HGC) aims to make a significant contribution to human society through genome research to diagnose, prevent, and develop treatments for cancer, infectious diseases, and other diseases. The mission of HGC is to promote genome research, integrate the human genome with the metagenomic information of symbiotic microorganisms, and establish new genomic medicine and its fundamental technologies in the era of Society 5.0. To this end, we are promoting research in genome science, medical informatics, artificial intelligence research on genome information, and ethical, legal, and social issues. In addition, we operate the SHIROKANE supercomputer and provide services to make it available to life science researchers in both academia and non-academia throughout Japan. At the same time, the center holds technical workshops for users and accepts researchers from all over the world who are interested in genome research and provides them with educational guidance.
